Prof. Christian Thibon - Director
Christian Thibon, Professor of comptempory history at the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour holds a PhD in history (Université de Toulouse under the supervision of Prof. R.Trempé). He was appointed IFRA's director in September 2010. His latest research works have mainly dealt with the comptempory Burundi.

Dr Marie-Aude Fouéré - Deputy Director and Resident Researcher
Marie-Aude Fouéré holds a doctorate in social anthropology and ethnology (EHESS/ Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, 2004) on interethnic joking relationships in Tanzania. Her current research focuses on collective memories, belonging and nationalism. Within this framework, she is working on a research project concerned with the modalities and uses of the memories of former President Julius Nyerere in Tanzania. She is editing a collective book on this subject, to be published in 2012. Her second research project is concerned with contemporary memories of the Revolution of 1964 in Zanzibar and their political uses. Her interest in the role of the written media and politicized Islam on memory production has emerged recently. Marie-Aude Fouéré also carried out consultancies for UNESCO on the Great Lakes refugees, the socio-cultural dimension of HIV/AIDS and cultural diversity from 2006 to 2009.
Previously a junior lecturer at the University Paris1-Sorbonne then at EHESS, and an associate researcher at the Centre of African Studies of EHESS (2004-2010) then at the research centre Les Afriques dans le Monde (“The Africas in the World”, 2010-to date), Marie-Aude Fouéré was appointed resident scientific researcher and IFRA's Deputy Director in September 2011. She is notably in charge of the management of the library and follows up IFRA’s publications.

Beneah Ogumbo - Librarian
After graduating in Accounting and Librarian Studies at the Kenya Polytechnic College, Beneah joined IFRA in 1992.
Alice Ayoma - Housekeeping
Alice has been the cleaning lady at IFRA since 1994.
