Globafrica is 4 year-research ANR-funded programme that interrogates the integration of Africa to the world in the long term. It brings together 3 French research institutes based in Africa (IFRA-Nairobi, IFAS and IFRA Nigeria). Historian Adrien Delmas (Centre Jacques Berque, Morocco) is in charge of Globafrica scientific coordination. In Kenya, it is coordinated by historian Christian Thibon, IFRA’s former Director, and focuses on the history of the Great Lakes and the diffusion of plants in the region. Special issue no. 52 of IFRA’s Cahiers d’Afrique de l’Est (The East African Review) resulted from it in February 2019.
A two-day conference, “The Routes of Medieval Africa“, will end this programme on 5-7 March 2019 in Paris.
