“A Well-Led Life: Honor, Authority, and Wealth in East Africa” 25-26 July

A FNSNF/ANR/CNRS collaboration

Taking place at IFRA on 25-26 July 2019, this conference brings together scholars from Project SALMEA (Self-Accomplishment and Local Moralities in East Africa) and their guests who will discuss the ways in which men and women in contemporary East Africa seek -successfully or not- to access and transmit wealth, power, respectability, and authority. The relations between forms of self-accomplishment and repertoires of morality will be approached following four main themes: Wealth, Gender & Family, Violence and Religion.
