(Re) searching for the middle class in Nairobi : applications for workshop
Applications are open for participants in an exciting multidisciplinary workshop exploring the middle class in Nairobi from trans-disciplinary perspectives. Applicants are invited from university students, young researchers , artists , entrepreneurs and policy makers from all relevant fields.
The workshop will combine lectures with individual projects using spatial mapping techniques. Participants will have a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge and research skills, to develop academic and professional contacts, and may contribute to a joint publication. Those completing the workshop will be awarded a certificate.
Prospective participants should send their motivation letter (up to 500 words), as well as their CV, by 21 August 2015. The letter should explain the applicant’s interests in the workshop, as well as any relevant experience with regard to the middle class in Nairobi or in Kenya.
Potential speakers from all relevant disciplines (e.g. academics, policy makers, artists, journalists) should send an abstract of their proposed lecture, as well as a brief biography (one paragraph), by 21 August 2015 . Participation is free of charge. Basic catering will be provided. Limited funds are available for reimbursing participants’ travel within Kenya.
